The wet grid type ball mill has become an essential grinding equipment for many beneficiation plants due to its advantages of timely discharge of qualified products, reduction of ore over crushing, high grinding efficiency, and large ball loading capacity. Wet grid ball mills also have their drawbacks, such as complex construction, easily damaged grid plates, difficult maintenance, heavy weight, and high equipment cost.
The structural characteristics of a grid type ball mill are: there is a grid plate at the discharge end, and there are many small holes on the grid plate for discharging the slurry. On the side near the discharge end of the grid plate, a mining lifting device is installed, which is a radial strip that divides the grid plate and the end cover into several fan-shaped chambers leading to the hollow shaft neck. When the mill rotates, the radial ribs play a role in lifting the slurry, lifting the slurry discharged from the small holes on the grid plate to the hollow shaft neck for discharge. Through the hollow shaft neck, it is then discharged. Therefore, the main working characteristic of the machine is forced discharge, with a high production capacity.
Wet grid type ball mills are generally placed in the first stage of grinding operations, forming a closed circuit system with a spiral classifier to achieve higher processing capacity, but the product particle size is coarser than that of overflow type grinding machines.
